Messages settings explained
Every switch in Messages settings and what it changes.
Open your profile hub, tap Settings, then Messages settings.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Read receipts | Send and see Seen. Off for both sides when either person turns it off |
| Typing indicators | Let others see when you are typing |
| Return key sends | The return key sends the message instead of adding a new line |
| Auto translate messages | Show incoming messages in your language |
| Message sound | Opens the sound screen, where Sound notifications plays a tone for new messages |
Auto translate
With translation on, an incoming message in another language is shown in yours. The original is still there, so you can check the wording when it matters.
Return key sends
Handy if you write in short bursts. Turn it off if you write long messages with line breaks, then send with the send button instead.
